Calgary Roller Derby believes in inspiring athletes and building camaraderie in the greater roller derby community. This is why all league practices are open to drop-in skaters from surrounding leagues near and far!
If you are an active skater in a roller derby league and are in the Calgary area, we welcome you to drop into any of our league practices. Drop-ins are open and welcome to any active skater at any skill level, including Level 3 Junior skaters. League practice times are currently held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the West Hillhurst Community Association (1940 6 Ave NW).

What should you bring to a Calgary Roller Derby practice? Roller skates would be handy to have! Along with full gear (helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, mouthguard), a black and white shirt with your number, armbands, and proof of insurance.
What kind of skills and drills can I expect? Each practice is run by a member of our Training Committee, who all have their own style, so no two practices are the same! We can guarantee that we always have fun and work hard. We begin each training with a warm-up and work our way into individual skills building and scrimmage-like drills. And if there’s time, we’ll scrimmage, too!
How can I pay the drop-in fee? You can e-transfer your $10 drop-in fee to duespayment@calgaryrollerderby.com with your full name and “drop-in” clearly in the notes field. We also accept cash.
What if I don’t have WFTDI insurance? That is ok, as long as you are an active member of another league, we will have waivers for you to sign.
