Calgary Junior Roller Derby

As they kick off our second decade of roller derby, the Calgary Roller Derby Association (CRDA) is spearheading a program of junior roller derby for aspiring skaters ages six to 17.

“As a junior derby coach, a skater myself, and a mom, I can say for certain that the sport of roller derby has had an incredibly positive effect on so many kids’ lives,” says Andi Linquent, a member of CRDA’s junior committee.

“It’s not always easy to find a safe, inclusive space where kids can just be themselves while learning something different, building confidence, and having fun. That is what junior roller derby is all about. Having the guidance and support from a strong league like CRDA is invaluable, and the next generation of derby skaters are in for a treat.”

Calgary Junior Roller Derby (CJRD)  is open to children of any gender between the ages of 6-17. Junior derby follows the same Women’s Flat Track Derby Association rules as the grown-ups, with some adjustments regarding contact.
